Care Case Studies

Creating a business continuity plan for a support organisation.

Case Study: Business Continuity

The policyholder delivers a range of services to enhance the everyday lives of disabled people across the UK. The organisation primarily supports service users to source care provision, design care plans and handle their direct payments or individual budgets. Where the service user is able they will also support them to either gain employment for the first time or return to work following long term absence.

The issues

Unplanned events, be it natural disaster, human-made disaster or disruptions, can have major effects on business.

Business continuity is a management process that provides a framework to ensure the resilience of a business to continue trading following a disruptive event, thereby helping to ensure continuity of service to key customers and the protection of brand and reputation.

The solution

We can offer social welfare policyholders one day’s input from leading care and health consultancy, Janjer.

The client wanted to use their policyholder entitlement to support them with business continuity and contingency planning as they recognised a need to strengthen this area. A Janjer associate visited the client to provide specialist advice and to develop customised templates which could be introduced. Training was delivered to relevant staff to assist with the implementation of templates across the organisation. This has helped create a bespoke business continuity solution for this client.

The support available has enabled them to enhance and strengthen their overall systems and processes.

The insured now has a business continuity plan sitting alongside their crisis management and disaster recovery planning as part of the organisation’s overall risk management.

Our Insurer Partners Markel International were able to accommodate this risk.
