Darren became Branch Director following the acquisition by Jensten Insurance Brokers in May 2024, having worked for Melville Burbage since January 1990.

With particular expertise in the Construction and Technology sectors, Darren works with Commercial Clients, servicing existing policies, handling new business and claims, and providing risk advice by phone, email or face to face in the office or at a client premises. Darren brings experience, enthusiasm and plenty of hard work to the table and particularly enjoys spending time with clients – understanding their needs, concerns and requirements, and providing appropriate advice and solutions. He is also responsible for managing and supporting the team, ensuring the company’s core ethos of providing exceptional customer care and service is maintained.

Darren lives in Whitchurch, Hampshire and, when not at work, is a music lover and collector of vinyl and enjoys spending time with his wife, children and fox red Labrador. He’s also a keen Spurs fan, runs regularly and admits to still playing football on occasion but only just!

Branch Director

Kevin shares joint responsibility for the running of the branches in Newbury & Melksham with fellow Director, Darren Young.

Having joined Melville Burbage in July 1985, he progressed to become a Branch Manager, Director and eventually Managing Director, in 2024 Melville Burbage was acquired by the Jensten Group, Kevin remains fully committed to the business and is now Branch Director of our Newbury Office.

Kevin’s role is very much client focused working with Commercial Clients and prospects to place Insurance Programmes that match client’s needs and reduces their risks and exposures.

Working alongside the Melville Burbage team, Kevin has over 40 years of experience, Kevin continues to champion Melville Burbage’s client centric culture and assist his colleagues with more complex risks.

Kevin lives in Newbury and when not working enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and watching rugby especially when his son is playing. He and his son are ‘long suffering’ Aston Villa supporters…although they are not currently complaining!

Commercial Account Handler

As Commercial Account Handler, Sammy is responsible for dealing with adjustments, renewals, and queries for a wide range of small and medium-sized enterprises. When required, she also supports the Personal Lines departments in the Newbury.

Sammy started her insurance journey in 2012, in a call centre-based office, but joined Melville Burbage in 2020, starting off working in the personal lines department. Since working at Melville Burbage, she has gained a lot of knowledge and experience, expanding this to the Commercial sector of insurance. In 2024, Sammy started her role as a Commercial Account Handler. Sammys main interests out of work are making memories with her 2 children, spending time with friends & family and going on the occasional Run too.

Office/Personal Lines + SME Manager

Adrian has worked for Melville Burbage since 2003 and particularly enjoys the fact that it’s like working for a family business! As Account Executive, he manages the Personal Lines as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, which involves such duties as handling new business quotations, renewals and training. He also liaises with Personal Lines insurers and Melville Burbage’s Claims Management company, as well as taking responsibility for various FCA regulatory requirements such as staff audits and sanction checks.

When he left school, Adrian trained with the CAD industry, mainly in construction and the design of roofs, and worked in Computer Aided Design until the company relocated to Cornwall. He made the move but couldn’t settle and, when his brother offered him a temporary job at an insurance broker, he leapt at the chance, moving back to Newbury. What was temporary soon became permanent and the rest is history!

Given his background, Adrian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, and he also holds the Certificate in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute, giving him a thorough grounding in general insurance, including the principles of underwriting, the regulatory environment and managing claims.

Living locally in Thatcham, Adrian is kept very busy by his three children and follows his sons’ interest in athletics. He’s just recently started running again and is also an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan!

Shanise also brings natural leadership into her work. Whether she’s supporting teammates, sharing knowledge, or stepping in to guide a conversation, she leads with calm confidence, positivity, and a strong sense of care. Her ability to uplift others and set the tone for great customer experiences makes her a trusted presence within the team.

Outside of work, Shanise is all about family life. She’s married and a proud mum of two, and her happiest moments are spent making memories with her husband and children. She also loves catching up with her mum friends – whether it’s coffee catch ups or just sharing the ups and downs of family life together. And when she gets a quiet moment, you’ll find her curled up with a good book, enjoying a bit of calm.

With almost 15 years in the insurance industry, Ben has built extensive experience arranging and managing commercial insurance programmes for a wide variety of businesses. Having joined Melville Burbage in 2018, he is based in our Newbury office and assists with enquiries in our Melksham office, helping to ensure clients receive prompt and knowledgeable support wherever they are based.

Ben’s areas of specialism include Fleet, Property Owners, Professional Indemnity and Commercial Combined insurance., however he is always keen to assist with a more complex risk. Ben understands that every business is different, so aims to focus on providing straightforward advice and tailored cover that reflects each client’s individual needs.

Ben is passionate about building strong working relationships and being a trusted point of contact for my clients. Outside of work, Ben enjoys relaxing with his family or heading out for a long walk with his dog, headphones firmly in place.

Senior Account Executive

As Commercial Account Handler, Justin is responsible for the printing and engineering sector, dealing with new business, adjustments, renewals and queries for a wide range of small and medium-sized enterprises. When required, he also supports the Personal Lines departments in both the Newbury and Melksham offices.

Starting his career at the age of 18 within an insurance company, Justin worked his way up to the position of Branch Manager, which involved running various offices, before joining Melville Burbage in 2010. He holds a Certificate in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute (Cert CII) giving him a thorough understanding of general insurance principles, regulatory requirements and the key disciplines of underwriting and claims.

Justin particularly enjoys the diversity of his role at Melville Burbage, saying that while each day can be different, with its own challenges, he finds it very rewarding providing customers with support, guidance and assistance. Describing himself as a good communicator that is well-organised, friendly, personable and diligent, Justin’s personal goals are to grow his book of business, stand out from the crowd and continue to challenge himself in his chosen path.

Living equi-distant from both Newbury and Melksham offices, in Royal Wootten Bassett, Justin is a keen tennis player within the LTA Swindon & District League and his home town tennis club, although says his main interest is his family and spending time with his beautiful wife and three children.

Molly began her career with Melville Burbage in 2018, originally joining the team for work experience where she spent her early days learning the foundations of the business through filing and administrative support. Over the years, her dedication, curiosity, and natural ability to connect with people helped her progress into her current role as a Personal Lines Insurance Consultant.

In this position, Molly brings a friendly, approachable manner to every client interaction. Her role involves handling renewals, managing new business enquiries, processing policy adjustments, and supporting customers with a wide range of insurance queries. She prides herself on delivering clear, reassuring guidance and building strong relationships through excellent people skills and a consistently positive attitude.

Outside of work, Molly enjoys expressing her creativity through arts and crafts, as well as spending time outdoors. Whether she’s walking local trails or hiking up mountains, she loves exploring new places and staying active.
